LEAD PROCESS DESIGN ENGINEER (Vancouver BC)

How often does an opportunity come along to work on a process that turns mining waste into clean water and saleable metals? Our clean-tech processes create cheaper, sustainable ways to re-use water and eliminate sludge. As entrepreneurs and innovators, we run our own operations, which enables us to optimize our designs and technologies. We think we have some pretty cool technologies that are changing the water treatment industry.

What you can expect to do as the Lead Process Engineer:

  • Develop an expert level of understanding of our water treatment processes and provide leadership in engineering design
  • Play a key role in developing new environmental technologies and apply existing technologies in new areas of wastewater treatment
  • Lead and approve all process designs, and the preparation of process design documentation
  • Manage process engineering systems and protocol
  • Train and mentor staff, developing the skills of the process engineering team
  • Build effective relationships and be viewed as the “go-to” person for process questions
  • Be a key technical resource for BioteQ’s operations, projects, laboratory and sales teams
  • Write, review and edit technical documentation including lab reports, technical papers, design reports and proposals
  • Be based in Vancouver with occasional travel to project sites around the world

Your background:

  • Bachelors or graduate degree in hydrometallurgy, materials, mineral processing, or chemical engineering
  • 10 years+ experience in detailed process plant design in the mining and/or mineral processing industries or water treatment sector
  • 2 years+ as a process lead responsible for the sign-off of design work
  • Proven ability to effectively lead and develop technical teams; transferring your knowledge to others
  • Excellent analytical, facilitation and communication skills
  • Can-do attitude – always finding a way to make things work
  • You, like us, are not afraid to speak your mind and play with new ideas and solutions
  • Experience in commissioning and/or plant operations is a considerable asset
